I need some help for a beginner at the gym?

First off you have to realize that working out is not a competition. Secondly, you need to start off with lighter weights, that's why you can't keep them straight. And third, you have to be patient. Your biggest problem however, is you're working out to try and impress others when you should be working out to maintain good health.
